Under the guidance of Mr. P.B. Terney Pradeep Kumara, Director General of the Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management, and Mr. Jagath Seram, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Galle Division, a workshop was held on March 11, 2025, at the Refresh Loo Hotel in Hikkaduwa. The workshop, led by Mr. Samarasinghe, Superintendent of Police, Galle District, and Mr. Nimal Sri Rajaratne, Director of Coastal Resources Management, aimed to educate police officers on the powers and duties assigned to them under the Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management Act. Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Krishantha Lokuge, in charge of the Galle Division, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Lal Gamage, in charge of the Aluthgama Division, also participated.
The workshop focused on informing police officers about unauthorized constructions and other illegal activities in the coastal zone, and on the powers and responsibilities vested in them under the Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management Act No. 57 of 1981.Officers from police stations in the Galle District coastal zone, as well as officers from the Department of Coast Conservation, attended the workshop.










Prof. P.B. Terney Pradeep Kumara as the new Director General of the Department of Coastal Conservation and Coastal Resource Management took over at the head office on 15-01-2025.
